Electronic media are licensed by the University Library for LMU students and staff, mostly at a cost. They are only available to LMU members after logging in with their LMU user ID.
Authentication with LMU user ID and password:
the three options for e-media login or, alternatively, with institutional login (Shibboleth)
E-media login
E-media bookmarklet
Proxy prefix
Institutional Login (Shibboleth)
Possible causes:
The LMU user ID allows LMU members to access the e-media offered by the University Library. Personal access data must not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances.
The licensed e-media offering is subject to copyright law, and the following terms of use apply:
When citing literature accessed via the e-media login, please note that the URLs rewritten by the e-media login cannot be cited because they are only accessible to the limited group of LMU members.
Some publishers and providers of scientific information track the research behavior of users on their websites (known as data tracking), create profiles, and evaluate them for their own purposes without the consent of those affected.
How we as a library operate in the most data-efficient manner possible:
The authentication technologies used by the University Library for licensed services do not pass on any personal data to publishers. Our authentication portal e-media login uses a rewrite proxy procedure in which only the IP address of the University Library's e-media login server is transmitted to our business partners.
With the Shibboleth authentication system, which is also used at LMU, users can check which data is transmitted to service providers. This data usually does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about individuals.
The University Library generally rejects licensing models from publishers or agencies that aim to identify users or use corresponding technologies.
How to disclose as little data about yourself as possible:
Regardless of our authentication procedures (such as e-media login and Shibboleth), numerous publishers offer personal accounts, e.g., to save reading preferences and search history.
We recommend that you avoid using these functions if possible, adjust your privacy settings, and read the providers' privacy policies carefully. In principle, most of the scientific information licensed by the University Library can be accessed without personal accounts with the publishers.
To protect yourself from conventional data tracking technologies for websites, we recommend that you use the appropriate functions of your browser (e.g., Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection) and follow the tips provided by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
When citing literature accessed via the e-media login, please note that the URLs rewritten by the e-media login cannot be cited because they are only accessible to the limited group of LMU members.
Detailed information on searching for articles in electronic (and printed) form can be found under research tools for searching for articles
You can search for e-books via the OPAC. The University Library regularly purchases entire e-book packages from publishers, often with a thematic focus. In our news section, we announce the purchase of such packages and provide a direct link to their display in the OPAC.
General and subject-specific databases are listed in the Datenbank-Infosystem, DBIS (Database Information System). Use the subject information and the TOP databases listed below as a guide:

You can find digital journals via the online catalog using the filter format "electronic" or you can narrow down the hit list with "online resource."
Are you looking for a specific electronic journal title or would you like to check the electronic availability of a journal at the University Library? In this case, search directly in the Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek, EZB (Electronic Journals Library):

The University Library has licensed numerous (daily) newspapers and magazines. The easiest way to search is directly via the "Press Media" collection, or alternatively via the OPAC.
Scientific e-media are increasingly being published as open access. To search for freely available materials, please consult specialized directories:
Most scientific e-media must be licensed by the University Library for a fee. Licensed full texts are available to LMU members upon authentication via their LMU user ID.

SFX is a link service that leads directly from bibliographic citations to the corresponding electronic (and printed) full texts. You will find the SFX button in the hit lists of databases or, for example, after appropriate configuration, in the hit list of Google Scholar.
Information about SFX can be found in the OPAC help function.
